I have fixed about 15 iPhone 5s and this is the first time I've ran into this. Everything is placed properly.

Then I would suggest damage to the cable

I'm having the same issue. Ive tried multiple new home buttons. Everything is properly seated and the cover on. Any guesses?

Well damage to the Lightning dock could be another option

Changed the charging port and that fixed it.
