Rear camera replacement caused "camera failed" error

Hi I tried replacing my rear camera but after installation and restarting my phone the camera no longer works. When I open up the camera app I get a warning message that says "camera failed." Same thing occurs when reinstalling the old camera. Am I missing something here?

Note: I already tried doing a factory reset.

I'm just attempting this fix myself this afternoon. I'm a bit worried that the replacement part has a blue film in the aperture with two round holes in it. Is this something I'm supposed to take off? Whats up IFIXIT? How come you don't have a write up on this repair?

The answer is actually that there are two different cameras for the Galaxy S7. One is made by Sony, and the other by Samsung themselves. You need to replace the camera with the correct type of replacement, then it will work.

Try to reconnect the camera cable, it may have disconnected.
