Having Issues with my iMac

Hi mayer,

in my case I can see the desktop when I hold a flashlight to the screen. It looks like I damaged the LED backlight power cable when reassembling the iMac (it's a iMac 21.5" EMC 2389). I tried to fix/solder the cable but it still is not working. I had a look at the LED driver board but I cannot see any visible damage. So can the LED driver board be still damaged or could it be the backlight itself that's shredded? What would your next step be in this case?

Thank you very much in advance

I would hook it up to an external monitor to see if the GPU was generating a good image. If not, do a rework of the GPU board (the most common failure on this model).

I connected the iMac to an external monitor and the image is good. So this means that the GPU board and the logic board are alright?

Good. Now boot it up and shine a flashlight at an angle to the screen and see if you can discern the desktop. LED Backlight Board, Apple part# 661-5537 http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Intel-iMac...
