Won't run with AC power adapter

My PowerBook will start up and run fine on a charged battery, but the AC adapter does not light up and will not operate the machine with the battery removed. I tried a new adapter and had the same results. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sounds like you need a new DC-in component, get it here

yup, DC-IN board is most likely culprit. It is easily damaged (often when the power cord is tripped over while connected to the computer).

Was the connector your original AC adapter deformed or missing its tip?

Yes, I've gone through several adapters due to bent and broken tips. Never understood why they couldn't build them with replaceable cords in a similar way that the 120v cord is designed.

Are you in the habit of putting your laptop in a case with the charger plugged in? Surely you haven't tripped over your cord enough times to ruin "several" adapters...

It's not a good idea to put a computer in a case with anything plugged into it, as it can so easily damage the port or the logic board connections. In this case, as rab and David point out, something inside seems to have been broken.
