Why is water leaking out of the hot water inlet?

I will explain by pointing out that the machine has 2 inlets - one for cold water and the other hot water. I have the cold water hose pipe fitted and not the hot water. When a cycle is started and water starts flowing through the cold water inlet at various points during this process a back flow of water through the hot water inlet is observed and hence by the ned of the wash cycle there is water in the floor.

Either hook the hose up or put a plug in it. It may be siphoning. It is meant to be a closed system.

I hope you still responding ! I have the same issue. Why would it be siphoning? I put the hose on the hot water in take but have no hot water faucet so I drain it in a bucket. I am afraid to plug it because I don't know where the water will go.

@Cat Hensley it is meant to be a closed system. If you plug it, water will go where it was designed to go, and not all over your floor or into a bucket. Plugging it is perfectly safe and shouldn't result in any untoward results. It is meant to have both hooked up, which would obviously prevent water from backflowing. By not having the hot water hose hooked up, you're giving the water somewhere to flow. Plug that, and the water will simply go where it is supposed to go.
