Dropped and phone quit after two days

Hey guys,

Dropped an iphone 5c and it still worked but suddenly quit after a couple of days. From your experience, what are the odds of this being a logic board issue?

Thanks

Hard to say without opening it up, and testing individual components, which I suppose is what diagnostic procedures are for. It could also be the battery or screen itself.

I don't have it with me right now so I can't check, I'm trying to take a wild guess. So I guess at this point since this could be failing from either screen, logic board, or battery, the odds are 1/3.

I guess I was trying to get hold of people with a fair amount of experience handling dysfunctional phones and see where the problems tend to come from from their experience with such phones. I don't need a clear answer just a "when people come in with fallen phones that die a few days later.. it tends to come from the logic board" (or any other component)

I deal with about 10 - 20 of them a week, though not all with this specific issue. I forgot to ask if there was any physical damage that you can see, at least externally on the device from the fall. I have seen phones dropped, not show external damage, but the shock if the drop did damage the board. However, I've also seen batteries knocked loose from the connectors on phones that have been worked on before (some techs don't bother putting the EMI plates back on, they help hold connectors down), and it just needed to be plugged back in. It's just hard to make a call for sure, even during diagnostics unless you have some spare parts to play with. Many repair shops offer free diagnostics, so it might be best to see what they say and decide from their whether you want to do self-repair, have them do it, or do any repair at all.

no apparent damage. Thanks for the info. I'm going to use this as a project of sorts.

Cheers

@dmill I'd start with a new battery. While you work on it using this guide check the connector and the wiring. If it starts with a new battery you know what the issue is.
