Been looking for an answer to this. One person said you need to do it before you close the phone up, basically when the part is naked. Haven't tried it yet, but looking for the answer

@theimedic Don't bother trying when the part is detached. I just took apart a completed repair because that post was all I could find. that was a waste of time. whatever it is that's blocking the grill from going in is just as present when the part is by itself. Looks like I'll be widening the gaps with a knife and using glue (answer below). It doesn't seem ideal and I feel like there must be a better way, but I'm not finding anything.

UPDATE: I just tried snapping them back onto the old broken display and had no issues at all, so this is a parts issue and not technician error. I think the replacement part is just not machined properly.

Did you ever find a way to get them in? I'm going a screen replacement and the new screen didn't have them on there. It's frustrating!

I took a utility knife and scraped at the areas making contact with the speaker grille, which were the left and right sides of the holes on the screen. Just to be certain, I applied a very small amount of super glue to ensure that they stayed in place.
