I have a Fiat punto-Mk1 55-1.1 1995
the speedometer, drops to 0
for a short time
then works again perfectley
about once a month but becoming more ofter.
Is it a mechanics drive or electronic.
might it be a loose connection, where do I fine the ends to check?

it was the speed sensor,
on the back of the gearbox.
goes quite often

I have finally fixed it,
there is a circut board above the clock in the instrument pannel,
the soldering was terrible, found a loose lead, and more, soldered it and works perfectly. A replacement clock was 300, but no longer made
+ great fix, thanks for letting us know.

nope thats not it
had the car 3 years,
and worth only 300, got find to where on the gear box the cable fits in
