Can I replace the Digitizer without replacing the Screen?

I have an issue where my touch screen is not accepting input for a 1cm by 6" region. Factory Resets, Downgrades and Upgrades have proved fruitless so I believe my last option is to replace the Digitizer. I can only find Digitizers or Screens on ebay so would I be correct in assuming that there is no adhesive between the two surfaces and I could easily replace just the Digitizer.

Yes you can just replace the digizer.

The lcd and the digizter are not laminiated to eachother.
