My mac crashes and blocks constantly with just a few programs opened

I have to re-start twice a day; I don't work with graphics nor any heavy program; just Safari, Chrome, word and excel.

These are the specs:

Processor: 2,4 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I am not sure if I can fix that replacing the memory...

Thanks!

How much free hard drive space do you have?

Try to launch AHT in express, then in extended modes.

(power down the MBP, hold D and power up)

It will tell you if you have a faulty RAM module.

@ Gautier - Don't forget this system has soldered RAM.

Can you create a bootable USB thumb drive and then boot up under it, so you can run Disk Utility to test your SSD drive?
