Tractor runs than shuts off

I have a oldr craftsman riding mower,it's 12 HP, it starts up runs for a minute and then shuts off and kills the battery dead. I looked at all the wires and put new gas in stll DOS same thing runs a minute shuts off and kills the battery williamsbryankeith@yahoo. Com

Options

This can be caused by a blocked vent in the gas cap. As the gas is used, a vacuum gets formed in a tank without ventilation and can starve the engine out. Later as pressure equalizes it will start again for a while.
