nano 4g reboots at any button push

Hi there,

Stumbled on your site, very nice! I have a 16gb 4g nano that unfortunately took a trip through the washing machine. After several days of living in a bag of rice, I have been able to get it to work, sort of. The problem is that it boots, but when you go to select the language, it reboots. This cycle is consistant. The ipod is recognized by itunes and I have restored it several times but I can't get past the button push issue.

Battery seems ok, I can boot it and use the scroll wheel forever but as soon as I try to push a button or toggle hold switch, it goes dark and reboots.

Thanks for your insight!

Joe Baker

klover11 it works better on here if you use the link on the right side of this page "Ask a Question" and give as much detail as possible. Right now it looks like you are answering an old question. If you need some help with your device, it is always better to ask your own question so that people see that you need help. Here is a link of what is normally suggested. Electronics Water Damage

Joe Baker, did you ever resolve this? I have the same issue.

Run all the tests in Diagnostics mode.

To get there, hold down select and menu for about 7 seconds, (like you would for a reboot)

But immediately after, hold down select and << (the previous button).

There are also many tutorials on YouTube if you can't get it.

I tried that but it will not go in to diagnostics mode. Each subsequent button push forces a reboot so you can never get to diag mode. I ordered and received the battery kit. I'm going to try to install it tonight and see what happens.

I forgot to mention that the select button sounds somewhat hollow, and it reverts to the apple logo immediately upon being plugged into the charger.
