Saving data from SSD

Is there a way to salvage/extract data from the SSD of a MacBook Pro? The situation is a cup of tea was split on the keyboard. Not sure yet what the prognosis is, the laptop is in an Apple service center (given it is still under Applecare, and yes I know that they don't cover liquid damage).

That all said, if the system is toast, is there a way the data can be extracted from the SSD to another system?

I'd look on eBay for one as people get one, use it once to recover and the sell it for half what they paid for it. That's how I got mine.
