What upgrades can I do to this G 8 desktop?
Have a 0ld G 8 G86503FYUPZ. Looking into filling the memory to 8 gigs. Is there a new updated logic board and can this unit be made wi fi?
Is this a good question?

To the best of my knowledge neither I or my Daughter can not recall doing any upgrades. At this time was not considering a budget until I can see what can be done. One thing for sure is to fill the memory to 8 gig after that any suggestion
I go with at least another hard drive and put a system on it so you can boot from either drive and repair one from the other. Maybe a SSHD drive to use as the main. When doing the RAM, keep it in pairs and add 2 4GB sticks.
Ok that sounds good and I under stand the memory but where is a good site to buy memory. Can this unit be upgraded to handle El Capitan or does the mother board need to be upgraded.
Pre-Installed MacOS: X 10.4.9 (8P4037) Maximum MacOS: X 10.7.5*

Be careful when buying RAM for this machine as it can be very high dollar. Here's a couple of links for reasonably prices used RAM: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kingston-16GB-4x...

Consider going to a SSHD hard drive for a speed and storage boost, the 2 TB drive can be had for about $8 more tan the 1 TB: Seagate Hybrid Drive ST1000DX001 1TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ
Or even a 4TB drive such as this: 4 TB 3.5" Hard Drive Desktop SSHD
Thanks now to find the time to upgrade with grand kids and three busted finger and all the honey dew lists
