Is it possible to upgrade its CPU for a Core2Duo ?
I've read on Hardmac that the CPU of this iMac could be upgraded from CoreDuo to a powerful Core2Duo. Have you ever done it ?
Is this a good question?

I finally replace my Core Duo on my iMac from 2006 by a Core 2 Duo 7400 !!! Il works great and the replacement was pretty much easy with patience. I also put a new power supply because the original, a rev.a, seems to cause unpredictable shutdown ... il looks like a component not design by Apple but by my dumb neighbour with his feet ;-)
Again, thx matthewfrey for your precious link.
Cheers from France !

Yes and no!
The CPU on these models are permanently mounted on the logic board.
However, most all of the parts between the Model A1174 (with a 2 GHz Core Duo processor) and the Model A1207 (with either 2.16 or 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo processors) are the same. Therefore, you could upgrade to the Core 2 Duo by replacing the logic board.
I hope this helps!
