Why did my rear camera stop working?

Maybe a month or more ago my camera stopped working, it had purples lines and was acting weird, then it would stop working completly-it would just be black. Then I found a video in which a guy shows that if you press very hard at the camera it works(only if it's a hardware issue) so I did that and it went from black/no picture at all to a glitchy picture and then later I got no picture at all again. When the camera started to act weird I updated from 8.4.1 to ios 9 but that didn't fix it so I doubt it's a software issue.

I got my tools the other day, opened the device, took out the motherboard and disconnected the camera and then connected it again...turned on the device and the camera was still not working. While inside the device I noticed there were screws missing.. there were also two screws missing from the small metal bracket that holds the connection of the camera and motherboard in place, so I took it out and just reassembled the device.

I ordered a new set of screws because I will need them when changing housings anyways but I wonder if I need a new camera or not.

Hi

If your camera doesn't work after the update this mean you will need new camera. be careful with the screws when you put them back.

It doesn't ship to my country but how do you know that's a real one?

There are tons of offers.

I believe in those with OEM or 8MP in the title. If I'm going to buy anything I might aswell buy the one for 2$ on ebay.

To be honest I buy from eBay all the time and they usually work fine.

Hi, you can try these options which might help you

1. Hard Reset (Hold home button + power button simultaneously)

2. Go to Settings>Privacy>Camera turn off camera for every app and then restart

3. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings (it won't delete your stuff)
