the gas service hose has been damaged [ melted] by heat from back of oven
it is not completely through hose [ie not leaking gas] but want to know if replacement is an immediate repair or can I wait

Always has to be a smartaleck. If it is not leaking gas and you now have it moved away from where it was getting hot, you should be fine until you can get a replacement. "This is not legal advice". I am a fix it guy not a tech. However, if it has pressure on it and it is not leaking, then chances are that it's not going to leak.
