Replace 2.8 GHz logic board with 3.06 GHz logic board?

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro 17", 2.8 GHz, A1297, MC226LL/A.

The logic board is dead (confirmed by Apple Genius bar).

I am considering buying a replacement logic board on eBay. But I'm wondering if, instead of the 2.8 GHz logic board, I could replace with the 3.06 GHz logic board. For some reason those are available at lower prices on eBay than are the 2.8 GHz logic boards. The A1297 identifier is the same for both logic boards.

Could I replace my dead board with a 3.06 GHz board?

Thanks in advance.

The boards the same, just a higher rated CPU. I see no problem with this upgrade. With the exception of getting a full functioning board off eBay.
