Battery Indicator Not Working

Hi! I recently noticed that my battery indicator on the left side of my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 13 Inch Unibody is no longer working.

But my computer works fine with or without the charger plugged in, although it says in the battery icon on my computer that I need to replace my battery.

Downloaded coconutBattery and I'm attaching the actual screenshot of the moment when I write this and post it to iFixit forums. What can it be?

Try resetting the SMC. Follow this Apple T/N: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac see what happens then.

Update (02/10/2016)

Well, you'll need to check your sleep sensor/battery indicator connector to make sure its connected on the logic board. Review this image: Lifting the sleep sensor/battery indicator connector.

If it is firmly seated you'll likely need to replace it. Follow this IFIXIT guide to gain access to it: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Upper Case Replacement. Follow Steps 1 thru 4, then jump down to Step 14, then jump to Step 20. At which point you have access to the 2 screws that hold the part.

Lastly, here's the Apple part info: Sleep Sensor/Battery Indicator Light 922-9523

Hi Dan, thanks for your answer. I did that and it didn't work at all, nor resetting the NVRAM.

Dear Dan ... thank you!!! I am not a computer wizard, nor do I play one on TV . Recently the battery on my beloved Mid 2010 13” Mac Pro was near the end of its life. After a visit to my local Apple store I learned that they wanted nothing to do with my ancient laptop, but I was not going to let it die without a fight. I ordered a battery NuPower Battery from OWC (great people!), watched a few videos and did my first computer surgery. The battery fit perfectly and I got it all together without losing a screw. Booted perfectly, all is well... except the side mounted battery monitor didn’t work any more.

Anyhow, read your post and reseated the monitor connector which is next to the battery connector. SUCCESS! Thank you again. Rich

@rich_s - Happy to hear it worked out!

Reseating the sleep sensor/battery indicator connector brought my battery indicator LEDs back to life. The LEDs now light when I connect or disconnect the MagSafe charger.

Thank you very much! It works for me
