Liquid damage - is it the battery or the logic board?

H i,

there was coffee spilled on my MacBook near the fan. It still works fine with the AC adapter, but the battery seems to be broken. Also, the battery symbol says that the battery has to be exchanged.

My questions:

- Do you assume it's rather the battery or the logic board that is broken?

- Sometimes (especially after using it for a while) the MacBook seems to work slower or have glitches. Why do you think is this?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Sebastian

I would dissasemble and check it, no point in risking it letting corrosion build up.

Clean it all with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, and a toothbrush.

Or go for the more professional approach and get a shop with a good ultrasonic cleaner etc. :-)

I would also replace battery if it has been effected.

I had the same happen. I had to replace the keyboard, battery, and logic board. Probably cheaper to buy a new one. I am in Canada and it was $1100 to replace those parts.
