iPhone 6 will not charge.

Hey Guys,

Just had a quick question regarding charging on an Iphone 6. A customer brought in an Iphone 6 that would not charge, we tried a few different charging ports and the device would still not charge. When powered off, charging cable can be plugged into the phone and will boot. When plugged in the device displays a message saying please use apple charger, but the charger we were using is a Apple charger. She was using an off brand charger at one point. Anybody have any experience with this issue? Thank you in advance!

"She was using an off brand charger"

There's your issue right there.

She has damaged the U2 IC chip, the message asking you to use a genuine charger (even if you are) is one symptom of it, more severe symptoms are:

- Overheating

- Fast battery drain (even in airplane mode)

- Fake charging (shows charging symbol, but percentage usually goes down)

- Phone charges when on, but if left to die, will not charge, but is able to come back on with a charged battery

The only fix for this is to replace the U2 IC chip.

I figured it would be something on the board, we have tried everything else, thank you for the answer! I appreciate it.

Have you tried another battery? I have seen iPhone 6 batteries dying at a quicker rate than any other iPhone model.

You've already replace the charge port, so that's the only other troubleshooting step I know. Im hoping nothing on the board is bad. I have seen off brand chargers cause problems. I've seen them destroy phones, although I have seen people use them without any issues as well. Can you try a different cable and power brick just to test? Im grasping at straws at this point.
