Installed a 2013/2014 LCD Assembly into a 2015 MacBook Pro A1398...
Hi all,
Due to a careless technician who is no longer with us, we have been having a nightmare on a macbook pro. It is a 2015 A1398 Macbook Pro 15" Retina.
We have installed 3 separate LCDs now (came in with a cracked LCD)... thinking each LCD was dead. We realized on LCD #2 and #3 that the LCD was working, but that there was no back light. When you hold a flashlight to the screen you can see the display. Otherwise the computer seems perfect (when booted to external monitor via hdmi).
We realized yesterday that our ex-technician ordered the wrong screen all three times. He ordered the 2013/2014 A1398 instead of the 2015 A1398.
Does anyone have any ideas on whether or not it might be the LCD or the logic board? Is the 2013/2014 LCD assembly truly incompatible with the 2015? And if so how is Apple capable of doing that? Everything fits perfectly... they are practically identical laptops.
Any and all advice would be SO appreciated.
Is this a good question?
