Replace hard drive with SSD drive

I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro (A1260) with the original hard drive. I have been told that replacing the traditional hard drive with a solid state drive will greatly help the speed as it's become quite slow. First, can someone point me to the correct part in the 256 GB range and second, what do i need to do in order to restore the system after I replace drive? Thank you in advance.

Here's what you need to transfer your data, or get an external enclosure: Universal Drive Adapter

Your drive is a

Standard Hard Drive: Serial ATA (1.5 Gb/s)

Most SSD drives are 6.0 Gb/s so you will need to get one that is backward compatible the 1.5, that's SATA I. 6.0 is SATA III.

Personally I use the Seagate SSHD drives in these machines which are backward compatible.
