Cellular connection unreliable since battery replacement

Since I replaced the battery in my iPhone 5 the cellular service has been unreliable. The phone may show full bars, but outgoing calls will fail 9 out of 10 times. The service indicator will change from LTE to 3G to No Service to E (error?) in any sequence. Incoming calls often go straight to voice mail. Calls that do succeed often fail halfway through. The Apple store and my provider both think the fault lies with my device.

I have checked the connector for the cellular antenna (underneath the metal cover beside the battery connector cover) and it seems to be securely snapped in place (and has never been removed). Any other suggestions or diagnostics?

Thanks - I've done that, turned the phone on and off, reloaded the OS from scratch, etc. This has been going on for several months.

How's your wifi?

Wifi is fine - otherwise this phone would have been in little pieces against the wall weeks ago.

I think you've damaged the modem or the transceiver on the logic board
