Component to replace to fix dishwasher problem?

- 66513753K602 Kenmore Elite dishwasher

- Inconsistent behavior:

o Pressing Cancel causes 2 min drain cycle.

o Sometimes I have rapid blinking LED over one or two switches.

o Pressing Delay Hours button once sometimes illuminates the 2 LED, a second press of Delay Hours illuminates 4 and causes other buttons to blink rapidly.

o Occasionally Normal Wash and China Gentle blink rapidly with Heated Dry on continuously.

o The LEDs over Pots Pans, Normal Wash and Quick Rinse are very dimly illuminated.

- Executed the “Checking Keypad Operation” steps (remove power, disconnect keypad ribbon at P1, apply power, close door): drain motor ran 2 minutes. (Guide tells me to replace keypad since control responded correctly).

- Executed the “Checking keyswitch contacts” steps, got no change in resistance when pressing buttons.

Hi,

Here is a link to the service sheet for your dishwasher.( I think). It describes how to get into the diagnostic mode. If you have been using this , apologies. Where is says Tech Sheet - W10082651 click on the download (333.63Kb) option, not the view option, as in my browser anyway, it comes out too small and cannot be enlarged without distortion.

Reading the guide it states:

Checking keyswitch contacts:

■ Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.

■ Remove connector P1 from the control board.

■ Using the table below, measure the resistance across the switch when the key is pressed.

NOTE: The meter must be connected with the proper polarity.

The resistance reading should go from infinity (open circuit) with the key open down to a readable Ω level with the key pressed. The level may be different depending on your meter, since there is a diode in the circuit.

If available, you could use the “Diode Test” function of a digital meter, which will give a voltage to turn on the diode in the circuit.

➔ If any switches fail this test, replace the console panel/keypad assembly.

➔ If all switches test OK, replace the machine control board.

Perhaps you have a short circuit contact in one of the keys as the reading should change and revert back to what it was every time you press and release a key.
