Hard drive issue on iMac

iMac A1419 ME089LLA

So far I have tried using Disk Utility to repair the disk, but I keep getting "disk utility can not repair this disk". I do not have anything of importance on it, so I'd like to just wipe it clean and start over. How do I do this without any of the disks needed at start up? Also, my wife set this up and i do not know the proper Apple ID associated but do have a new Apple ID created.

You don't talk to your wife?

Startup holding down the Option key. Selection your restoration partition, let it boot, then run disk Utilities.

Or reinstall the system or wipe the drive and do an internet install.

UPDATE

Ok you will need to boot from an external device with a system on it. Use Disk Utilities on it and reformat the drive. Now hold down the option key on start up and do an internet reinstall.

Yes I do talk to my wife, but unfortunately she did not record the information for me. I do not know what a restoration partition is. I have used Command + R to start up and that's how I got in to Disk Utility, but that did not work as it would not let me erase the drive.
