when i recieved my iphone 5 it was dead displaying the dead battery icon when i tried to power it on and it wouldnt charge then it stopped displaying icon and still not charging so i replaced battery and charging port hoping that would fix the issue but still no charge and no power any suggestions

Have you tried a reset by holding the power & home button for 10 seconds until you see the apple logo. If that doesn't help it may be the logic board charging circuit. Any other questions let me know.

i did try that i have heard the logic board could be it but not entirely sure its the u2ic the person i bought it from said it was a working phone and the only issue was fast battery drain but who knows if they were being honest bc it was dead by the time i got it
It could be that to, but also your on/off switch. I use a sync/charging cable that lights up which helps me troubleshoot issue like that. Here is a link that shows you more of what I'm talking about.
do you know a spot i can pick one of those cords up i dont have a best buy near me and i havent seen anything like this in a walmart

It could be your U2 IC that went bad, I'm working on an iPhone 5C that has the same issue which I'm troubleshooting to the power management chip.
