I had 2 problems with this modem (SBG6580). Initially it would turn on and all lights would be on and it wouldn't boot. Then a day later the modem lights would blink every other second. I finally found that the problem was the power supply. Replaced it with a new 12v (1.5a) power supply and havent had any issues. Good luck!

Brand new MB8611 showed same symptoms, top four LEDs flashing, LAN LED off despite being connected to router. Swapped in a good 12V power supply and everything started working. Big thanks!

Maybe you need to run a router-reset or just a simple edit on the router's page.

for a quick solution...

Depending on the model, usually you should follow some basic steps:

1.

Turn off the router.

2.

a. Check for the reset button;

b. Use a bobby-pin or a matchstick and keep it press

3. Power the router while keeping the reset button pressed (5-10 seconds depending on the manufacturer).

4. All the led's should light up and stay lit; after 5-10 seconds, after releasing the reset you should have a factory reset router.

Check that the power supply delivers 12v under load.
