My computer freezes on the POST screen

I was working at my desk and my laptop froze, so I had to hard reset it...but now it won't get past the POST screen and I can't even reach the BIOS. Any suggestions?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Are there any lights on? If so which ones?If they are flashing is there a sequence to the flashes? there may also be beep codes. Here is a list for your PC

No beeps or flashing lights. Power light comes on and stays solid, keyboard is backlit. No response from any inputs on POST screen -F2 or otherwise.

Hi,

Have you tried turning off the laptop, unplugging it from the power, taking out the battery, and holding down the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any built up static. Re-install the battery and try to start.

Just tried, no dice. I read somewhere that you can reset the BIOS by taking out the coin cell battery, so I did that while I had my tools out...didn't change anything either.

Hi,

Read online about people having the same problem as you. Ended up they had to get a new systemboard installed. Hopefully you are still in the warranty period with your laptop so Dell will replace it. Good luck.

Hold the fn key down and then press the power key

It would start the dell PSA

If there's any error code make a note of it and also the validation code and contact dell

Google the error code to check what part had failed
