I have a 2.6ghz macbook pro a1261 17" computer with 1 bad ram slot. I see it can handle 6gb of ram, with a 2gb in one slot and a 4gb stick in the other slot.
Can I have just 1 4gb stick in the working ram slot?

The one 4 GB should work fine. Also when a slot goes out, sometimes a lessor stick will work, so if you have one give it a try.
