Power supply adapter to use on a newer PowerBook with magsafe

I had a Powerbook G4 with the old technology power cord. I now have the MacBook Pro with the magsafe power cord. I have a 12 volt cord with the old end and need an adapter to go from that to the magsafe insert. Do you know if they exist. I want to plug my computer into a 12V charger in my car. I know I can get a whole new one, but trying to make this work. Cheryl

Don't. You'll spend more time and money chasing after that savings than just buying the correct charger.

Keep on trying, but be pragmatic, some repair can be done but just aren't cost effective.
