MacBook Pro will only work in guest account

So after a liquid spill, a keyboard replacement, logic board cleaning, and main disk repair via Disk utility, I can still only use my laptop with the guest account, otherwise it shuts off at the Apple logo after showing a status bar that fills up a bit. It also shuts off before I can run AHT. When I manged to get into disk utility, my usual disk "Macintosh HD" was greyed out so I couldn't verify it.

Should I give up and get the board repaired or is there a chance this is a hard drive issue?

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Same thing is happening to me. How did you fix it?

Angela, we're working on it. What's your exact model? Did you get anywhere with this?

I would disconnect the internal hard drive and boot from an external. This sounds to me like a hard drive/ IR cable issue.

The plot thickens! While trying to do this, I keep getting the 3 beep RAM warning which keeps me from going any further. Arrgh! I have reseated them several times but to no avail. Could I have damaged them?

@mayer I checked the schematics, can probably be figured out; specially for liquid damaged boards. Then again, no two boards fail the same from liquid damage, so we can never tell for sure if we will be successful.

So far, I've had extremely high rate of success with liquid damage repair.

Sounds like you have a Malware infection in that users account.

Have you tried booting up under an external drive and run both Disk Utility to check the drives permissions (do the disk repair as well) as well as run a good antivirus/malware program.

If you still can't get the account to work you'll need to backup your data (after booting up under the external drive) then deleting the user account and creating a new one. I would recommend you also create a second admin level account to have for the next time. If you had it you could have tried it.
