The bottom part where the cord plugs into it has been damaged,

Can the bottom part where the cord plugs into the iPod be repaired and for how much ?

Yes it can be repaired /replaced but it requires very fine soldering skills. You might be able to find a local electronics or TV repair shop that could do it ... the part itself isn't expensive and I wouldn't expect the labour charge for soldering a single part to cost you very much either.
