Drive issues with SMART
Is there a fix for the SMART system problem? I'm having the same issue EMC2428, mid 2011.
Is this a good question?

For the most part fixing SMART status errors isn't worth the trouble, SMART status is there to tell you that your drive is failing. Replacing the drive is generally the thing to do. If you do choose to replace it I would recommend getting http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIYIM... (seems to be what other people recommend too) if you don't then you'll have issues with high fans after the install. If you're willing to do it you can also upgrade your storage capacity or even throw in an SSD for some read/write speed boosts, such as with this little beauty http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

I think you've over generalized SMART errors. Some are related to the system its self not the drive. Without knowing what the OP is talking about its just a shot in the dark here. And, yes it could be a hard drive starting to fail or it could be a bad SATA cable or the system was shut down before the last write operation was completed.

Can you tell us what drive you have in your system now and what leads to to believe the issue is within SMART services.
