New installed Hard Disk clicking every 5 seconds

Hello

Sorry about that..... I will try to be more specific.

The Hard Disk purchased from Ifixit is =Toshiba TB 7200 RPM 3.5" Hard Drive

I had a friend who works with Apple install the Hard Disk for me ( i have no experience)

As for the G5 that was a mistake from my side, I have an intel Imac 27" 2.66Ghz Intel Core i5 EMC2374 with the last four figures of my serial number T5PJ

Installed on it now is OS X 10.6.8

There is a clicking sound (like drops of water ) every 5 seconds

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You have me lost. What drive? Why have an Apple Store do it? Also a G5 will not run 10.6, that only works on an Intel processor. Please give us the last four figures of your serial number so we know what machine you have.

Thanks for the clarification. Your machine selection has now been changed.

I dont believe this has anything to do with the OS, System, or anything else, besides the hard drive. When I hear a clicking hard drive I see a ticking time bomb. I may be wrong but from what I have seen a clicking hard drive means it is malfunctioning and might soon fail.

I agree with Paul. Clicking hard drives are not good. Your machine has a Serial ATA 3 Gb/s. Make sure your drive is backward compatible.

Hello Mayer

How can i find out if the drive is backward compatible?

by

You'll need to locate the spec sheet for the drive. Can you take some clear images of the drives labels so we can read them. Edit your question so you can paste them in.
