Yeah, you've broken your display assembly. It's fixable, if you want to do it yourself, just takes some time

That's for phones on sprint or Verizon. There's a different part for GSM phones, such as at&t or T-Mobile

Am i able to repair this on my own because once when the lcd was disconnected after dropping my phone i opened the back and presssed back into place

I would disconnect the ribbon cable and insert it back in if it's still doing the same thing then unfortunately the LCD gave out and needs to be replaced with a new digitizer.

by

and DO NOT press on the back of the shield once you open the battery cover, by doing that you could damage the ribbon cable or circuit chips that are underneath. Find a small screwdriver and take the shield off and disconnect the ribbon cable and pop it back in, it may not be seated correctly.

by

Also when assembling back together put the screws exactly back were they came from, there are different sizes of screws and you don't want to put a screw at a place where it doesn't belong which could cause damage.

You can check the inside to make sure its just not a loose cable. The repair is something you can do yourself! iFixit has the part and guide!
