Home button not working after charge port was replaced

Charge port was not charging new battery so I replaced it. Now the batter charges, but the home button is not working. Is there something I could have missed that is a common mistake when it comes to this repair?

The gold prongs will be out of alignment and not making contact with the home button

You are correct David. There is some damage on the side that is not letting the display sit flush. So I need to adjust it. If I put pressure on the side it allows the home button prongs to seat correctly. Thank you sir.
