That Zif connector just holds the ribbon cable in contact with pins. You can try cutting off a sliver of plastic from a credit card and wedging it in there to hold the ribbon to the connector. I have done this with my laptop when the zif socket for my keypad broke. It takes a very thin piece to do so. Then take some captons tape or other electrical tape and place it over the socket to ensure it stays.
Okay, I found the problem with the white screen. There is a special plastic film that is tinted on the inside of the digitizer. I took my old digitizer and waved it over the display and I could see it perfectly, I took the new one with no plastic tinted film and it was white screen. I was able to peel this plastic film off the inside of the digitizer without damaging but the problem is going to be getting all the old adhesive off and trying to put new adhesive on and avoiding any impurities such as lint, dust. Does anyone have an idea where I could find a polarizer like this........ here is a picture....... This is for a Kindle Fire 7 2015 edition. I believe it's a seven inch screen.
I recently replaced LCD and digitizer screen on Ipod 4th generation. I got it to power up before I put the heat plate on to make sure it was going to work. I went back to put heat plate on and closed it up and got nothing after that. I thought maybe the batter needed to charge so I plugged it in and got the battery charge sound, but no picture. Itunes does not recognize it when I plug it into computer. Another question I have as well is that there is a white mesh sponge (very little) that you're supposed to transfer from the old screen to the new one that adheses to the bottom of one of the cables. Is this a vital step or can it be left out???
