Jorge, I'm pretty sure I have your answer but I'd like to confirm your exact machine. Please give us the last four figures of your serial number. It's located on the bottom of your stand.

Hi, thanks for the answer. the iMac 20" is: EMC 2133, model: A1224. middle 2007.
Thanks for confirming your exact machine. This model does not have different temperature cables for different brands of hard drives. I would be concerned that the temperature sensor cable has not been placed on the new hard drive correctly. Makes sure it is on and stuck down and that the other end is connected properly to the logic board. See step #11 of this guide: iMac Intel 20" EMC 2133 and 2210 Hard Drive Replacement
The hard drive that shipped with those models used a special internal temperature sensor. Was there an extra cable that you could not plug into the new hard drive? If so, then the fans are running full speed because it thinks one of the temperature sensors is bad and it wants to prevent over heating.
There are 2 solutions. Get the correct replacement hard drive that has this extra connection. I think mackerels.com still sells this drive. OR you download a fan control app that uses the hard drive SMART system to report it temp to the system. I used this on a 2009 27" iMac. http://exirion.net/ssdfanctrl/

Maybe, we need to know the exact machine before giving a definitive answer.
The iMac 20" is: EMC 2133, model: A1224. middle 2007. Thanks for your answer and interest.
It is not plug in to the hard drive, the cable is simply glued on the HD.
Orange. May you should stick to oranges as Apples don't seem to be your thing. While this is a good answer for later models, it does not apply to this one. It's always best to know exactly which machine you are giving advice on before giving an answer off the top of your head. BTW - mackerels.com is no longer a valid site and the domain name is up for sale.
