Options

Green battery light but not powering on

MacBook (a1286) will only power up when I press the power button first then plug in the MagSafe adapter before it turns green. The os loads up ok but The fan runs continuously. When I remover the power adapter it shuts down. Bothered is a X on the battery indicator. When I plug in the adapter its a constant green light and doesn't power up in the normal way.

Tried all reset commands and disconnected the battery etc.

Help please

Is the X red or black?

Its grey like the tool bar background colour with an x and says no battery available

Replace your battery. You need a new one
