A question about my Nintendo 3ds microphone.

So I spilled milk on my "New Nintendo 3DS XL"(about 3 months ago) and I found out today that my micrphone is not responding at all, and the spilling of milk may have been the cause (which is why I'm not sending it in to Nintendo). Do you think I could replace the mic in my new 3ds XL with the old working mic of my regular sized 3ds? or is the design completely different?

I'm not aware of a problem with that, if they even are different; the microphones could be identical, especially this is from a similar product class of the same years. If it is not identical, then it should be smaller either way. You can always use double sided tape to adhere the microphone to the case. 3M foam double sided tape works really well.
