I cannot download the new El Capitan

I cannot download it. The system is struggling but not successful. IS there any file damaged?

Update (10/07/2015)

My iMac is using Intel i5. I think the main problem may be the damaged Disk Utility? But how to mend the file?

Please be aware the older PowerPC iMac's and first generation of the Intel iMac's can't support El Capitan These systems are only able to support older OS's like Lion (PowerPC), Snow Leopard (32bit Intel). If you have a iMac G5 Lion is as high as you can go.

I think the worst part is my Disk Utility file is damaged.

Dan is incorrect, probably had not had his coffee yet. Leopard is the top on a G5.

@Lee Chun - Maybe we are going down the wrong path here. Can you give us the last four digits of your serial number so we can verify what you really have for a system.

Besides not knowing what machine we are talking about, the Disk Utility application on El Capitan has lost a lot of its Utility and options in formatting options, permissions repair and it worthless on locked disks and mSATA cards. We have had to go back to the 10.10.5 version. It is real Purdy, but looks can be deceiving.

Chosen Solution

The highest system a G5 will go to is 10.5.8 Leopard. Anything above that requires an Intel Processor.

I should have had a double shot in it :-) Your right Mayer Leopard is the highest.

You may need a better network connection. Try waking up early in the morning or very late at night when there are fewer people online.

You also may have issues within your own system. Do you have enough free space on the drive? Did you first run Disk Utility to check it out?
