Why does my iPod skip from song to song?

My Ipod won't play all the way through songs, it skips after a few seconds or minutes to the next one. I've tried the 3R's several times. This happened when I got a new MacBook Pro and had to have the library reloaded by ITunes. Everything plays fine on the computer but not on the IPod, neither on the dock or with headphones. Anything I can do to fix it? IPod classic, out of warranty but only a couple years old.

Having read up on this problem I believe that at some point, an iPod skipping songs affects every user. I guess that this is a software issue on which data to read. The best fix for this is to perform a restart to get it sorted out. I would definitely suggest a hard reset. A hard reset occurs when the iPod reboots. This is what happens when you hold the play and center button down for five to seven seconds. The iPod resets, rebooting with the Apple symbol on the screen. The hard reset should fix an iPod skipping songs because it clears out the memory that is causing the error. If that does not work, try to restore the Ipod to factory settings with Itunes.......nothing to lose. Good luck.
