installing OS on new HD

Hi;

I installed a new harddrive in a mc mini I got off e-bay. I was using superduper to clone the original HD, but it seems to have crapped out and just keeps clicking and not spinning up.

I need to install the OS on the new HD, but the mini did not come with install discs.

I do have a legal version of the 10.5 install disc - so my question is: how can I install os 10.5 on the new hard drive (formatted by attaching it to another mac)?

Should I reset the PRAM and replace the little backup battery on the main PCB?

THanks

Update

I should have aded that I also swapped out the old combo drive for a new superdrive. Apparently the superdrive is not so super and wouldn't read the OS X install disc. Need to troubleshoot the drive to make sure it's not DOA.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Jens, u have to keep the "C" key pressed....not tap it repeatedly.

I did. For some reason it didn't work with the new DVD drive. I had to reinstall the old drive to get it to work. Thanks for all the help, though.

Start your Mac from the 10.5 DVD by holding down the "C" key. On the second screen select Disk Utilities from the Utilities menu. Format and/or partition the new drive. Then you are ready for a fresh install. Good luck.

I keep pressing the C key on the keyboard, but all I get to is the screen with the flashing folder/question mark. And I also can't get the install disk out of the CD drive.
