Battery goes down even if Phone is complete off

Dear iFixIt community,

My fully charged IPhone battery loses around 20% in just 5 hours. Without doing something on the phone. On a completely new restored OS. The original Apple battery have just around 250 load cycles. Even if the phone is complete off it loses around 12 % over night.

The battery is not part of the special Apple iPhone 5 battery program.

That's a new phone I got from the Apple Store because the old one had an graphic error. It is now one and a half year old but warranty is over now.

What's wrong with this Phone? Should I replace the battery or it it's a hardware error?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I would suggest replacing your battery. The batteries in our phones were originally designed to hold a charge as long as possible while off. Unfortunate after many charge cycles the batteries ability to hold that charge is reduced, in some cases so much so that, like yours, the battery is useless and needs to be replaced.
