Can I repair a short in my computer?

When I hit the on button, HP desktop immediately shuts down. It is blowing the circuit inside. I can reset the circuit, but immediately blows again. Is there a way to identify where the short is?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Are you still having this problem? Also, what kind of computer do you have, and can you be more specific with your problem? How do you know it's "blowing the circuit"?

Can you provide more specifics? What model of desktop? You could use a multimeter to see if the circuit is shorting out, but you would need access to the circuit board and contacts of the switch. Can you upload a picture of the circuit? (sometimes a little piece of conductive crud gets into the gaps and bridges the circuit)
