did I hard brick or soft brick my device

OK so when i insert my battery into my Samsung galaxy s4 it vibrated and the Samsung logo appeared for 2 seconds and the phone automatically turned off and there is no red light indicating that l am charging my phone and i couldn't get into download mode by pressing the home button and the volume down button at the same time what is this problem is it a hard or soft brick

any ideas
