iPhone 4s Volume control issues

I have an iPhone 4s. I'm getting ready to order the new battery kit, but the other issue in having is that I do not have volume control when playing video or music through the speaker or Bluetooth. It only works with headphones. And sometimes I have to pull out the jack and put back in for that to even work. Do you have any suggestions on what else I would need to get to possibly fix this issue? Thank you
