I'm not sure if its worth upgrading to a SSD. Is the system still running? If so maybe you just need to do some TLC to get its snap back.
You see this systems SATA port is only SATA I (1.5 Gb/s) so your SSD performance and its cost will be wasted on this older Core Duo system. Don't forget your system can't run the newer OS's so you are limited on what Apps will work on the system (32bit only). Maybe its time to look at a newer system (even used).
