Volume not working / Remote volume buttons turns off tv

My Samsung Series 6 (6000) 50 inch volume does not work. The television does not have any buttons for volume so I have to use the remote.

Whenever I push the volume up and down buttons on the remote the television turns off or on after a delay. There is no way to get the volume to turn up. There is no sound.

Do you have any idea how I can fix this or what I need to replace? The television screen works fine.

And just for information purposes - the remote works fine it seems to change the channels so I'm not sure if it is a remote problem or a television problem.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Did it ever work? Is it the original remote? If not, what remote is it?

by

Yes it worked until it stopped working. It's the original remote. Everything worked fine. Then it stopped working. I wonder if the tv got wet or something. I used to have it placed next to a window that I left open and maybe when it rained it got wet. Everything else works fine except the volume doesn't increase when you push the remote button. Instead the tv turns off.

Which model you have? 6S EH, F, G or ?

by

Its a model E.

CORRECTION: The remote is a time warner cable remote. The samsung tv remote does not allow for volume to work though.

I have the original remote. This Tv came in our travel trailer when we bought it and has been nothing but problems. If you hit volume up or down, change channels, or change sources it powers itself off. TV does not have any buttons so I am at the mercy of the remote.

We had the same issue with our remote for our Samsung TV. We chatted with Samsung online and this is what they had us do and it worked for us. Good luck!

1. Take batteries out of remote or remotes and push all buttons on the remote once or more. Wait 20 seconds and put batteries back in.

2. Turn off TV and unplug from power for 60 seconds. Plug back in.

3. Update software. Go to Menu, support and software update.

Good luck. Our remotes worked after doing this.

I had the same problem with the same remote. It seemed like whenever I had the Samsung remote facing the TV and used the Time Warner remote this would happen at least once a day. I had the problem about a year ago and it went away when I put the Samsung remote in a box where it couldn't talk to the TV. The batteries went dead in the Samsung remote so I changed them and started using it again about a month ago. Now my problem is back when I use my Cable remote. I suspect that somehow the 2 remotes don't play well together.

I had this problem too and I tried all of the above mentioned solutions but the problem persisted. So, I contacted Samsung support and they provided the following solution that worked perfectly.

  1. Remove the batteries from the remote.
  2. With the batteries out of the remote hold it close to the TV and press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Put batteries back in the remote and voila.

I hope that nobody experiences the same frustration but if you do then I hope that these instructions work as well for you as they did for me.
